K6-44: SPECTRUM OF RECTIFIED SINE WAVE

PURPOSE: To display the difference in the sound and in the spectrum of a pure sine wave voltage and a full-wave rectified voltage.

DESCRIPTION: The sine wave output from an oscillator is fed into a bridge rectifier. Using a coax switch, the output either directly from the oscillator or from the bridge rectifier can be simultaneously heard using an audio amplifier and speaker and viewed in the time and frequency domains using a digital oscilloscope with a built-in FFT. The picture above shows the wave shape and spectrum for the bridge rectifier output.

SUGGESTIONS:

REFERENCES: PIRA unknown.

EQUIPMENT: Wavetek generator, bridge rectifier circuit in box, coax switcher, audio amplifier and speaker, oscilloscope with FFT module.

SETUP TIME: 5 min.
