PURPOSE: To show how a diamond produces colors from white light.
DESCRIPTION: A bright point light source with condenser lens and baffle passes through a small hole in the screen and strikes a small mounted artificial diamond. Because of its multiple prismatic facets, the diamond separates the light into its spectral colors, directing much of the light backwards onto the screen.
REFERENCES: (PIRA unknown.)
EQUIPMENT: Bright point source with condenser lens and iris, mounted small artificial diamond, and mounted white screen with hole, all on optical rail cart.
