PURPOSE: To demonstrate that a paraffin lens can focus microwaves.
DESCRIPTION: When the 12cm microwave transmitter and receiver are placed about 50 cm apart the receiver picks up the microwaves and displays them on an overhead projector meter. Positioning the lens midway between the transmitter and the receiv er focuses microwaves onto the receiver, increasing the meter reading. The geometry can be optimized by moving the receiver along the optic axis.
