K1-23: TORQUE ON CURRENT LOOP - MODEL

PURPOSE: Three-dimensional model of torque on a current loop due to magnetic field.

DESCRIPTION: A uniform magnetic field is represented by the red vectors. A current-carrying coil positioned at an angle with respect to the magnetic field and carrying the electrical current indicated by the black arrows, experiences a torque due to the magnetic field. The torque is created by the forces on the four sides of the coil, which are shown by the white arrows.
