PURPOSE: To show how the motion of a stereo stylus creates the stereo sound.
DESCRIPTION: The block representing the stylus sits in the groove as the record moves out of the plane of the paper. The cylinders with short lines represent the moving magnets which, due to ridges in the sides of the groove, oscillate back and forth through the pickup coils, represented by the cans, which are wound around the moving magnets. The stylus may be moved to represent sound on either one channel or the other, or both.
